Work life balance.

Hey! Sorry for not updating this bloggie for so long!
I’ve been at my new work place for close to three months now and am settling down nicely. The first 2 months were tough I guess, not that the work was hard or the colleagues were not nice, but rather that adapting to something totally new and I am not someone who’s the most adaptable. In fact I lost 2 kgs in the first month I joined (not that I am complaining!).
The work isn’t very much different yet there are enough differences for new skillsets to be learnt and for that I am grateful. The team is still small about 10 people which is very good for me as I spent almost my entire working life working in small teams. I have been hoping that I would travel less since the focus of my work should very much be local yet just early this month I have to make a trip to Melbourne for business. I hope those are once off as leaving two behind is double the heartache.
I have been leaving work later compared to my last job because of the sheer work load and that really just leaves me with about 1.5 hrs with the children every night (and thank God for that half an hour in the morning with Talia as she gets ready for school).I think this heartache is familiar to every working mother, seeing how your children is growing and learning right under your nose and you have no control over it.
And to try to gain some work-life balance, after playing with the children and putting them to sleep by 9.30pm, I would try to go for a jog if I did not manage to spend some time in the gym earlier during lunch time. After which I would try to watch a bit of TV or read a bit before calling it a night at 11.30pm.
The weekends are fabulous though, we go loads of places with the children and the only bad thing about weekends are that they passed so fast!
Now that I have sort of settled down, I hope I would be able to update a lot more frequently. I actually have loads of stuff to say, but where is time when you need it? Guess I just have to look harder then.

Hey goose! Long time no chat. Both us busy mums now. I just got laid off in Feb, but in some ways it was a blessing in disguise as I am SO BUSY with my 3 kids. I share your pain when I was working. But hang in there! Kids are more resilient than u think! Keep up with the blog, great way for you to keep a tight journal about your family!
Take care.
