How to calm a crying baby….
Posted by Kevin under Children Development, Talia Ann
I discovered a way to calm Talia Ann when she fussed and cried when she was 1-2mths old. I knew it was unorthodox, but it worked every time I tried on my girl.
The Japanese uses a similar way and they even featured it on national television.
The sound that soothes babies is in the range of 6000-8000 Hz. That’s the sound they hear inside the womb before they are born. The sound of “wine tasting” lies somewhere around 7000 Hz, right in the sweet spot of sound for babies. In their study, this technique worked on 6 out of 10 babies.
My way is slightly different, but it works 100% of the time.
Babies tested: 1
I need 9 more babies to beat the Japanese. Who wants to volunteer your baby?

Interesting, although I have no way of finding out if it works on Ryan as he is way too old!
You mentioned your way is similar but didn’t elaborate on what you did. Does it involve tasting wine or water?

Hi,
happened to discover your blog through links of other blogs i read. Talia Ann is so cute, and i find it informative to read your blog esp about talia ann’s development as i have a baby girl who is turning 5 months soon.
About the method you blog about, i did not know about it til my brother in law used it on my girl when she was 2 months and kept crying. and, i must say, it works on her.

Hi Kevin,
You and your funny ways. Yam and I both have our eyebrows raised when we watched the video clip. You ARE interesting. Its enjoyable reading and seeing what you guys have been up to, especially Talia Ann. She’s such a lovely baby.

Soory for my MIA. Very busy recently.
My way is very simply, just blow lightly at Talia Ann’s face. She will stop and look at me. Sometimes she smiles, some times she don’t, but she always stopped crying.

Out of curiosity, both Yam and I tried it on Adrian who is already 4 months on separate occasions. It still works!!! He stopped crying…. but both of us almost choke on the water.
